Situation Overview

Driving or walking through floodwaters can be dangerous. Risks include hidden damage to the road surface, vehicle engine failure, debris, strong water movement and vehicle damage caused by saltwater.
Key Instructions for Residents and Visitors
-
Do not drive or walk through floodwaters. Water depth can be difficult to judge and changing tides and water movement may create additional risks.
-
Avoid the area. Please restrict travel along the southern section of South Road to essential and emergency access only.
-
Do not attempt to bypass road closure barriers or enter flooded sections of the road.
Detours and Access
There are no direct alternative vehicular routes south of Scout Park while South Road is affected by flooding.
Residents and visitors are asked to delay non-essential travel to the southern end of the island until water levels have receded and the road has been inspected and confirmed safe for use.
