Community Notice - Pallet Dumping at Gun Club Area
Attention All Residents
The Shire of Cocos (Keeling) Islands is disappointed by the recent discovery of a large number of wooden pallets being left within the Gun Club area.
Aside from creating an untidy environment, the accumulation of pallets presents a potential fire risk, particularly in areas regularly accessed by the community. In addition, if pallets are burnt in uncontrolled or unsuitable locations, the remaining nails, staples and other metal fixings can create on going hazards for visitors and vehicles long after the fire has been extinguished.
The Shire reminds the community that a specifically constructed pallet fire pit is available at Scout Park for the safe disposal and burning of wooden pallets. This facility has been established to help minimise fire risks and reduce the potential for dangerous debris being left in public areas.
The Shire asks all residents and businesses to dispose of pallets responsibly and to assist in keeping community areas safe, clean and accessible for everyone.
If anyone has information regarding the dumping of pallets at the Gun Club area, they are encouraged to contact the Shire Rangers on 91626649 or email at Alamat emel ini dilindungi dari Spambot. Anda perlu hidupkan JavaScript untuk melihatnya. .
The Shire thanks the community for its ongoing cooperation and assistance in maintaining the amenity and safety of the Islands.
