Member for Lingiari, Marion Scrymgour MP recently visited the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Marion set time aside to meet with your Council and Shire staff.
How refreshing to finally have a member of parliament come to the Islands and have a genuine one on one meeting with the elected members and staff to discuss the issues we face. It would be fair to say, Marion is a very savvy politician and with her acting as a champion for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the halls of Parliament the future is bright.
Marion has extended an invite to the Shire President and elected members to meet in Canberra in the first week of July. She will be setting the wheels in motion to arrange meetings with various Ministers and Senators so we can continue to progress our issues with the right people in Canberra.
A huge thumbs up and thanks Marion and we look forward to seeing you in Canberra in July and back out here at the Cocos later in the year.
